Mission Statement

The vision is to have an indigenous art gallery and learning centre. As I have shared my vision with others the goals have formed into a community space that could even be called a cultural centre

At first I was looking for just a gallery with studio spaces to be able to share native art from across turtle island but looking at the needs of the reconciliation process there needs to be a lot of truth sharing so the artists will need the space and opportunity to do that type of work. There are many types of storytellers some on the written page, some buy video, and podcasts ,music, and dance. So the vision grew too more of a cultural centre. A place of learning both for those regaining culture sustaining culture and observing culture as we move forward through this truth and reconciliation process.

There have been several positive reactions some of which are Ruth Weller from spirit of the children Caroline Phelps from canoe cultures and Laura Grady from art new West, and Susan Gregg from 100 braid St. I have spoke to some of the local chiefs in passing and was encouraged to proceed in the good work.

To recap we would like to find a larger venue that would be able to accommodate A cultural type learning centre with gallery space and studio space for various artists. Also activity rooms to accommodate larger presentations as well as gift shop to be able to sell native made arts and crafts.

Native art renaissance foundation would be a nonprofit with the goal of promoting cultural awareness conveying cultural knowledge down to the youth from some of the more renowned native artists on turtle island as they work at a residency with some of the mid level artists and ultimately to the youth.

I believe these are reasonable goals and look forward to working to those ends.

Thank you.
